Yawp ::: What's The Point?

What does the future look like for the WordPress Community? I believe it's more clear than it looks. The point here is to explain what I see, and to describe the path ahead. It's not a defined map, but there are some milestones we need to reach.

Right now, the community needs to get its bearings and re-establish itself on more solid footing. This will mean revisiting the ethos of free and open source software (FOSS) and learning about how distributed communities can organize and thrive.
